On a much more positive note: Aether Dancer
So there's this project, Aether Dancer, that's currently in crowd-funding fundraising status. It's post-apocalyptic steampunk, focusing on the crew of the transport ship Aether Dancer.

Cast so far includes Claudia Christian, Amanda Joy Lim, Jennifer Summerfield, and Conal MacBeth.

I think it sounds awesome.

I hope you'll check out the short promo video and makeup test video on their homepage, read an interview with co-creator Steven Lambert in the crowdfunding community, and support them at IndieGogo!

I'm glad to see other folks getting behind this project. Crowdfunding: for television that doesn't suck!

Things I like to see:
* worldbuilding in which people actually bother to do their homework
** which creates a setting that hangs together visually
** and is not full of stupid holes due to violations of known science
* a cast of mixed ethnicity
* strong female characters
** both of which add to representation of marginalized groups, and therefore
** invite ideas that have not been done to death already
* a plot that actually goes somewhere instead of just treading soup
** which means that my brain has something to do other than repeatedly ask my eyeballs "Why are we still looking at this baloney?"
