Commercials I've enjoyed
Looks like an oxymoron, doesn't it? But there actually have been a few commercials that I've really liked, even to remembering them for some time.

When I was a child, the laundry detergent Fab had a commercial where a family was laughing and playing and rolling down a grassy hill. The first time I was taken to see snow, I looked down over the snow-covered hill and promptly lay down and rolled (it was not steep or dangerous). I remember my dad asking me where I'd learned to do that, and his being less than thrilled when I told him it was from a tv commercial.

Much more recently, Orbitz has had the series of commercials with the hovercraft. This one is my favorite, with the final exchange of

Customer: Why didn't you just mail [the refund check]?

Orbitz guy, completely uncomprehending: But . . . we have a hovercraft.

Why do I not have a hovercraft? Preferably one that is not full of eels.

Yes, I happen to like that one commercial ("but we have a hovercraft!") quite a bit. It's just what I would do, if I had a hovercraft.

Commercials that entertain, like the ones that win Cleos, really hit me right, because that's the way to sell to me>

Remember Jonathan Winters and 'The Man From Glad'? (That was, a trash man/garbage man, but with a spotless white uniform and white gloves, speaking with a cultured, aristocratic accent.) That character could have been turned into a series of shows, it was a shame we only got about four minutes of him, over a holf dozen commercials.
