CEPT: Co-worker's adult daughter, undetermined infection
My co-worker S's daughter, who is pregnant (ETA: and not due until February), passed out today. A trip to the ER has revealed that her white blood cell count is over 20,000, which indicates an infection of some sort. However, the cultures aren't back yet and the docs don't know what it is.

Your Good Thoughts for a quick and correct diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and overall well-being of mother and baby would be greatly appreciated. I will pass along printouts to S as appropriate.

Thoughts, prayers, and thumbholding against the infection, against the terror, for S's daughter, for the child, for all who care for them.

Good Thoughts™ going out, but please make sure someone insists that she be tested for leukemia. That can often masquerade as a low-level chronic infection.
