I should feel ashamed of myself, but I don't
Even with the weak review on IMDB, I kind of want to see Red, the new Bruce Willis movie, just to see Helen Mirren with a machine gun (I don't think this is an unfair spoiler, since it's in the TV commercial).

I probably won't actually see it, but I want to.

Mary An and I were saying the same thing. It will probably suck, but it looks like fun. :-)

If we get the chance we're going to see it. Warren Ellis said it's not his comic book, but it's good anyway. Which for Hollywood is pretty high praise.

Wait, it's based on a comic book? By Warren Ellis? The Warren Ellis that fatfred usually posts warnings about when she links to him?

Buh?

According to the trailer, apparently so. Doesn't look like my cuppa, though; I'll wait for The Tempest instead.
We're flat broke, but hey - we do it in style....: Brilliant!kshandra on October 12th, 2010 12:01 am (UTC)
The very same warren_ellis, indeed. gridlore and I are recent "converts" to his fandom.

But yes, this definitely looks like a "check your brain at the door, and you'll have fun" sort of movie.

EDIT: Here is his latest post on the subject...along with what may be a compelling reason to go see it and not be ashamed in the slightest.

No, you should not feel ashamed of yourself for wanting to see a movie.

Hey, I want to see it for Karl Urban. And, well, Helen Mirren with a machine gun.

It is so, on my list of things to see! I've actually been looking forward to this coming out for about a month and Helen Mirren is one of the main attractions.

I'm looking forward to seeing this and The Expendables on a cold, rainy weekend, curled up on my couch in my jammies, with my husband and my kitties, popcorn and alcohol in hand, and watching them on Netflix.

I have all intentions of seeing that. It looks _fun_, and Helen Mirren with a machine gun is no small part of it.
