Today, I am an ex-president
I've handed over the IAAP chapter gavel and the president's pin to the incoming president. I still have a two-year commitment: this year as immediate past president and adviser, and next year as chair of the council of past presidents. I don't think the incoming president will need much advising, as she's done this before, in 2001-2002. That doesn't mean I'm going to shirk my responsibilities, of course.

And, she said, eyes gleaming maniacally, I'm going to kill them. Each and every one of them. Slowly and painfully, and with much glee.

I was expecting the gavel plaque; that's traditional. I wasn't expecting a framed, formal resolution, signed by close to half the chapter, honoring me.

But, note: I feel stunned, and deeply moved, and honored. I do not feel upset, angry, defensive, futile, hopeless, or depressed. Better living through modern chemistry, oh HELL yeah. :-)

Huh? Who or what are you going to kill, and why?

All of the chapter members who cheerfully conspired to present me, all unawares, with the Resolution. They're evil, I tell you. Evil! *grin*

Ah. Well, of course! And congratulations. :-)

Congratulations - for the honor, and for your internal response. HELL yeah, indeed. (-:

Congratulations! And, if I may mention it, you now have a concrete object to look at if you start spiraling down again, and say to yourself, "These people value me enough to do something EXTRA on my behalf. I am not worthless."

True. Although this last Depression was clearly, even to me in the depths of it, entirely in my brain, not my mind. Which was weird, and made it both easier and more difficult.

Easier, because my cognitive response was to be very able to say, "I'm depressed, this is not how I actually think, and I can fight it."

Harder, because I couldn't break out of it on my own, not by proper thinking, or music, or exercise.

Yay you. :)

Note that this also counts as a completed Accomplishment.

Go you!

I guess we have to go out in New Orleans and have a past presidents celebratory drink.

Good Onya!
And as you'll see, probably the better title as well. *G*

Back in the day when I played in the SCA, the local group (a Barony) would refer to our Seneschals (essentially, President), as Turkey. Because, you know, only a Turkey would take the job. And then, when they stepped down as Seneschal? Well, what happens to Turkeys when they're done being Turkeys?

They become Club Sandwiches.

Personally, I think Ex-President is a better title. *G*

Re: Good Onya!
I seriously considered titling this post "Today, I am a Fountain Pen," but figured that was too obscure.

Re: Good Onya!
Maybe too obscure.

But it works for me! *G*
