Commercials I've enjoyed
Looks like an oxymoron, doesn't it? But there actually have been a few commercials that I've really liked, even to remembering them for some time.

When I was a child, the laundry detergent Fab had a commercial where a family was laughing and playing and rolling down a grassy hill. The first time I was taken to see snow, I looked down over the snow-covered hill and promptly lay down and rolled (it was not steep or dangerous). I remember my dad asking me where I'd learned to do that, and his being less than thrilled when I told him it was from a tv commercial.

Much more recently, Orbitz has had the series of commercials with the hovercraft. This one is my favorite, with the final exchange of

Customer: Why didn't you just mail [the refund check]?

Orbitz guy, completely uncomprehending: But . . . we have a hovercraft.

Why do I not have a hovercraft? Preferably one that is not full of eels.

Since we don't watch TV, this makes me like this one even more

I've found that most GEICO commercials (other than the cavemen or money-with-eyes) get a grin from me, including the whole series that ad is a part of. Also, the latest Farmer's insurance ads (Farmer's University) are pretty good.

I like the one where he let's a valet park the hovercraft.

"I'm just not going to look" *crunch*

I love a lot of commercials. It's not uncommon that I enjoy the commercials more than the show, especially if the show is something I'm just in the room for while someone else is watching. (I actually really dislike it when people come over to my house and then watch TV and mute the commercials, because sometimes you see bits of funny video but can't hear the audio, and that irks me.) I can't remember many favourites offhand, just because I've got a horrible memory, but every so often these "best commercials" festivals come around to theatres, and I love going to those.

Oh, I do remember liking this IKEA lamp commercial. :)

In my family, we snark the commercials mercilessly. Even if we do find the orignal concept amusing (as I do the GEICO gecko and the Orbit "cleans a dirty mouth" series).

The Honda commercial where they "built" the car across the sound stage a la dominoes falling or Rube Goldberg.

Yes, I happen to like that one commercial ("but we have a hovercraft!") quite a bit. It's just what I would do, if I had a hovercraft.

Commercials that entertain, like the ones that win Cleos, really hit me right, because that's the way to sell to me>

Remember Jonathan Winters and 'The Man From Glad'? (That was, a trash man/garbage man, but with a spotless white uniform and white gloves, speaking with a cultured, aristocratic accent.) That character could have been turned into a series of shows, it was a shame we only got about four minutes of him, over a holf dozen commercials.
