Well
I don't know if the moderately high dose (4000 IU/day) Vitamin D my pdoc recommended in conjunction with my antidepressant is physiologically effective or placebo effective, but I am DEFINITELY noticing its absence.

I guess this is my periodic reminder that Better Living Through Chemistry really does require introducing the chemicals into the system. I shall stop at the Vitamin Store on my way home and acquire more Vitamin D.

Yup. It's scary what a day without my favorite pill does to my mood.

Interesting. Had bloodwork done a week and a half ago, and (new) doctor looked at my records, looked at CFS and fibro, saw I'd never had the Vitamin D levels tested. Fast forward a week, I get phone call from doctor - everything else is pretty much OK except cholesterol, and I reiterated my "I'd really truly prefer to die before I ever get near a statin again, the side effects were so horrible" position. Then he mentioned the Vitamin D stuff - 1000 IU a day aren't enough to get my levels to a decent level, I'm to take 50,000 IU once a week for 8 weeks, and then we'll re-test.

And Medicare doesn't cover that, no more than it'll cover calcium, because they're just supplements. Cover things like Fosamax and Boniva at high co-pays, once you've got osteoporosis? Sure. Cover things to prevent it? Hell, no. *grumble* (It was reasonably affordable, luckily.)

Wow. That's a lot of Vitamin D, especially having to take it all at once!

Yeah. Can build up toxicity, but that's apparently only if you're taking it daily. Also? It's one, not-as-large-as-a-daily-vitamin capsule. Took the first dose yesterday; we'll see if it helps with the fibro crashiness, etc., over time.

I may have to look into that and see what my doc says.
Thanks for the info.

You're welcome. If your doc approves your trying it, I hope it helps.
