Couple of friend-of-a-friend notes
http://reannon.livejournal.com/1858937.html is looking for contributions to her Relay for Life fundraiser.

A FOAF who makes props for magicians is looking for a 10" black plastic cauldron. Any suggestions where to find one?

Re the cauldron: I'm sure there are Harry Potter cosplaying communities out there!

Good point -- thank you!

If this isn't a silly question, does it have to be plastic?

My friend said his friend said plastic, so I assume weight is a factor. Or malleability, given that it's for use in constructing a stage magic prop.

What I was wondering was whether one could take a large dollar-store plastic beach ball, cover about three quarters of it with thick papier-mache, then simply cut out the top of the ball, glue feet on the bottom, and paint the whole thing flat black.

Thank you; I'll pass along the link.

Dang - we have three left over from Goblin Forests Past that will no longer be used. But I am in Idaho and my packing and shipping in a timely manner fu is severely damaged.

A friend WINOLJ suggested porn stores -- there's a product called Love Potion No. 9 for which the display is a plastic cauldron (not sure if it's the right size).
