Priceline experience?
Anyone ever used Priceline's name your own price feature? How did it work out for you?

i've done it several times for flights and at least once for a rental car that I can remember. i always get good deals (of course i research first to know what's a good price to bid) and sometimes i've gotten great deals. sometimes you end up with shitty flight times, but as long as you're okay with that and are flexible on your arrival/departure, it's totally worth it.

oh yeah, i've also done it for hotels. and i got a really good deal on a fancy hotel. i'm planning to try it again next week for another hotel. i'm going to bid at the last minute (a day or two before) for that, figuring they'll have the best deals with short notice for rooms that would otherwise sit empty.

I want to get into a specific hotel close to the conference, so I don't want to go random on that, but I'll keep it in mind for the future.

Thanks!

no prob...good luck! I probably wouldn't use it normally when I travel for a hotel, but the one time I used it for a hotel & the hotel I'm using it for next week have been cases where we just wanted to stay in town but go someplace for some kid-free alone time. :) so the exact location doesn't matter much in either of these cases...we just want a fancy place to fool around. ;)

We've done pretty good with hotels when the goal was "someplace passable within walking distance to tourist attractions", not tried it for anything else.

No comment on priceline (although its a cosmetic/bath goods shop over here). But your new green colour scheme does weird stuff while I read it. As I look from comment to comment I get that "colour goes opposite" thing happening where the green turns to pink.

Not saying this is a bad thing, actually its kinda cool, and I spent three minutes or so playing with it.

Meh. No different than using their regular method.
