This week is officially fired...
...because I'm damn tired of the universe shitting on my friends and co-workers.

Umm, it's only two days old. What happened?
Janet Miles, CAP-OM: hairjanetmiles on December 2nd, 2008 10:58 pm (UTC)
Sunday I learned that a friend who is less than 10 years older than I am has been diagnosed with early-stage dementia.

This morning I learned that a co-worker's wife passed away last night. She'd been in treatment for an aggressive cancer.

I have been, too. Thanks.

Not so much me, as people I care about. And thank you.

Thanks.

I will help push that motion. So nothing else that happens this week should really matter, right?

I am really sorry about your losses. (Usually people get their troubles in smaller doses.)
Janet Miles, CAP-OM: hairjanetmiles on December 3rd, 2008 02:14 pm (UTC)
Precisely. And, well, actually, I've noticed that troubles seem to come in clumps.

Also, to be fair, these aren't precisely my troubles and there's nothing I can do about them; they are afflictions to people I care about.

*hugs you sustainingly*

Yeah, that's pretty crappy all right.

If you're near Madison after this weekend, I can ply you with lots of cookies...

Unfortunately, I do not expect to be anywhere near Madison in the foreseeable future.

Well, others' afflictions can be important, too. Unless you're a sociopath (yes I AM always trying to see the "bright" side, why do you ask?).
Janet Miles, CAP-OMjanetmiles on December 3rd, 2008 10:59 pm (UTC)
Point taken. I'm fairly certain that I'm not a sociopath, but then, would I know if I were?
Bladerunnerbldrnrpdx on December 3rd, 2008 02:26 am (UTC)
Yeah, I've had enough. Quite, quite enough.

Yep. One of my canine nieces is terminally ill. A journalist friend was "downsized" from the Gannett Borg. A co-worker has colon cancer. The %&^#@!! list goes on.
I think I will go to the public library after work for a fiction fix. Reality really bites right now.

Reality really bites right now.

Ain't that the damn truth. Here's hoping it improves. Ghods know I'll be offering my traditional toast (stolen from edgedancer come midnight on New Year's Eve.
